Job summary

Hankins Construction is seeking a Business Development Professional to help expand our footprint in St. Louis and surrounding markets.

This in-office role involves identifying opportunities, building relationships with owners, developers, and partners, and driving long-term growth in commercial construction. You will collaborate with preconstruction, estimating, and operations to align client expectations with our capabilities, attend industry events, and lead RFQ/RFP pursuits.

Qualifications

• Track record in business development, sales, or client engagement—ideally in commercial construction or real estate development.
• Strong knowledge of the St. Louis market and its network of developers, brokers, and industry influencers.
• Confidence in leading client meetings, RFQ/RFP pursuits, and presentations.
• Strategic mindset with the hustle and heart to build from the ground up.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify new project opportunities by monitoring market activity and engaging decision-makers in commercial real estate, development, and architecture.
• Grow the pipeline by leveraging local knowledge and relationships to target healthcare, education, industrial, civic, and retail opportunities.
• Represent Hankins Construction by presenting the value proposition clearly to owners, developers, and partners.
• Work strategically across teams with preconstruction, estimating, and operations to align client expectations with capabilities and project success.
