Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials NA in Southfield, MI seeks Head of Compliance & Compliance Counsel to lead strategic compliance and ethics across North America. You will provide legal counsel on regulatory matters, drive risk management, and foster a culture of integrity and accountability.

This role partners with executive leadership to ensure responsible business practices, privacy governance, and effective investigations, reporting, and governance across the organization.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 10+ years in legal/compliance roles.
• 5+ years leading compliance programs or investigations.
• Strong knowledge of anti-corruption, antitrust, trade sanctions, governance, privacy, and cyber security.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the company's compliance and ethics program across North America.
• Develop and implement compliance strategies, policies, controls, and governance frameworks.
• Provide legal counsel on compliance matters to the businesses in North America.
• Promote a culture of ethics, integrity, and accountability.
• Support enterprise risk management, due diligence, contracting, and strategic initiatives.
• Oversee compliance risk assessments, audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
• Partner with leaders to establish controls for information handling and privacy.
• Monitor emerging laws and advise leadership on impacts.
• Lead the data privacy program including governance and cross-border transfers.
• Oversee whistleblower programs and investigations, ensuring effective remediation.
• Establish monitoring, auditing, and reporting processes with dashboards.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and regulators.
• Hire and develop a lean, high-performing compliance team.
