Job summary

Carolina Legal Associates in Rock Hill, SC seeks a seasoned Complex Litigation Paralegal to support senior counsel in managing multi-party, high-value medical malpractice litigation from inception through trial and appeal.

You will coordinate electronic discovery, organize medical records, manage expert disclosures, draft discovery and trial documents, and oversee trial binders and courtroom logistics to ensure timely deadlines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal in complex litigation.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology.
• Experience drafting discovery and trial documents.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee large-scale electronic discovery lifecycles; manage document data rooms, utilize advanced litigation support software, and execute sophisticated document reviews
• Analyze, synthesize, and chronologically organize thousands of pages of complex medical records to isolate critical issues, standard of care breaches, and causation links
• Identify, retain, and serve as the primary liaison for medical and technical expert witnesses; manage expert disclosures, track reports, and compile comprehensive cross-examination materials
• Draft, refine, and manage complex written discovery pipelines, including specialized interrogatories, comprehensive requests for production, and strategic requests to admit for high-exposure multi-party cases
• Prepare legal documents: motions, pleadings, trial documents, and subpoenas
• Conduct exhaustive investigative background research on corporate healthcare institutions, medical groups, and treating providers; maintain strict master calendars for fast-moving multi-party statutory deadlines
• Construct comprehensive trial binders, manage exhibits, and coordinate courtroom logistics
