Job summary

City of Portsmouth is seeking a Compensation Manager to oversee pay information in the HRIS and ensure compensation programs are administered in line with policies and regulations.

The role requires deep knowledge of compensation methods, job evaluations and alignment with city objectives. The incumbent will design and monitor salary surveys, provide policy interpretations, and collaborate with executives to improve pay structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business practices or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the Human Resources field.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Master’s degree in HRM preferred with related certifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development, implementation and administration of compensation and incentive programs.
• Manage and produce the City’s Compensation Plan and related materials.
• Advise staff on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.
