Job summary

GirlTREK is seeking a Senior Manager of Communications to shape messaging, manage media relations, and ensure all communications reflect the organization’s voice and values. This role writes across channels and supports marketing campaigns, partnerships, and programs.

You will lead strategy, oversee crisis communications, and develop compelling donor and partner communications. Remote role with occasional travel, reporting to the VP of Brand Partnerships & Marketing.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years experience in communications, PR, journalism, or related field.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills across multiple formats and audiences.
• Media relations experience including pitching, press releases, and journalist relationships.
• Strong storytelling abilities and narrative development skills.
• Strategic communications thinking and ability to develop messaging frameworks.
• Brand voice stewardship and consistency management.
• Ability to write compelling copy under deadline pressure.
• Strong project management and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop messaging and positioning for GirlTREK across all audiences (members, donors, partners, public).
• Create content strategy—what to communicate, when, through which channels, and why.
• Steward brand voice, tone, and storytelling approach.
• Coordinate communications across divisions for a consistent narrative.
• Develop PR strategy and media outreach to raise visibility.
• Write and distribute press releases and media advisories; manage media inquiries.
• Identify thought leadership opportunities and position leaders as experts.
• Write donor, partnership, and program communications; support marketing copy.
