Job summary

McKinstry in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Commodity Manager to lead procurement, sourcing, and strategic commodity management within the Offsite Manufacturing division. You will collaborate with Engineering, Production, Finance, and Quality to shape sourcing strategies, negotiate terms, and ensure cost efficiency and supply chain resilience.

You will evaluate suppliers, monitor markets, manage budgets, and mentor team members while aligning with enterprise procurement direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in procurement, purchasing, or commodity management; manufacturing/modular construction experience preferred.
• Strong analytical skills for forecasting, demand assessment and pricing data.
• Proven negotiation skills for favorable supplier contracts.
• Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Procurement and Sourcing: identify suppliers, lead sourcing, negotiate terms.
• Strategic Planning: develop commodity sourcing strategies aligned to division and enterprise direction.
• Market Analysis: monitor markets, trends, and developments to inform decisions.
• Inventory and Budget Management: analyze inventory, production schedules and budgets.
• Supplier Relationship Management: maintain relationships, evaluate performance, support audits.
• Knowledge Sharing: mentor buyers, procurement specialists, and analysts.
• Risk Mitigation: develop strategies to manage price volatility and supply disruptions.
