Job summary

Leggett & Platt Inc. seeks a Commodity Manager to lead strategy and performance of assigned commodities within our sourcing organization. The role interfaces with engineering to ensure technical requirements align with commercial strategy and focuses on cost optimization and supply continuity.

You will develop strategic sourcing plans, drive negotiations, and partner with engineering, operations, and finance to meet business objectives in a collaborative, innovative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in strategic sourcing and commodity management within manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end management of assigned commodities, including strategy development and supplier performance.
• Serve as liaison between engineering and suppliers to align technical requirements with commercial strategy.
• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans based on market analysis and cost modeling.
• Lead supplier negotiations and manage contracts to optimize total cost of ownership and mitigate risk.
• Execute RFQ processes to drive competitive pricing and supplier selection.
• Analyze market trends and cost drivers to guide sourcing decisions and influence design.
• Drive supplier performance through metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain/Business/Engineering

5+ years in Strategic Sourcing/Commodity Management
