Job summary

Busey is seeking a Commercial Underwriter in Phoenix to provide accurate, timely underwriting for a growing portfolio supporting Relationship Managers. The role focuses on financial analysis, risk assessment, and clear CCAR memos to inform lending decisions.

Candidates should have extensive commercial credit experience, strong communication, and proficiency with MS Office. Base pay ranges with bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance.
• Requires 5+ years Commercial Credit experience.
• Requires 5+ years of experience in a Commercial Underwriter role.
• Requires direct experience in Commercial and/or C&I.

Responsibilities

• Spread and analyze financial statements per Busey guidelines.
• Use cash flow, liquidity, profitability and leverage data to assess credit risk.
• Prepare CCAR memos with strengths/ weaknesses of the borrower.
• Evaluate collateral and other relevant credit information.
• Assist with portfolio management duties and testing financial covenants.
• Assist Relationship Managers with opportunity memos for new/existing relationships.
• Maintain knowledge of the Commercial Banking Loan Policy and nCino.
• Assist in the sales process with customer/prospect calls.
• Approve loans within defined authority or recommend adjustments.
• Attend pipeline meetings to learn about opportunities and renewals.
