Job summary

Western Reserve Group is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter in Ohio to manage risk selection, pricing and negotiation within authority levels. The role partners with the Underwriter and Territorial Manager – Marketing to meet loss ratio and premium targets.

You will travel to agencies, review renewals, underwrite existing business, and guide CSR staff on rating and endorsements, with emphasis on accurate communication and knowledge of Commercial Lines coverages.

Qualifications

• 2+ years Commercial Lines underwriting experience
• 4 year College Degree preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of Commercial Lines coverages

Responsibilities

• Accepts or rejects and assigns proper classifications and pricing new business based on underwriting criteria.
• Reviews renewal policies and prices the renewals based on risk characteristics and market conditions.
• Underwrites existing business within assigned authority levels.
• Travels to agencies to strengthen relationships and discuss underwriting issues.
• Recommends changes in rates and products to meet objectives.
• Provides instructions for rating, classification, pricing and endorsements to CSR staff.
