Job summary

First Community Bank in Abingdon, VA, seeks a Business Development Officer to grow commercial lending relationships and Treasury Services, handling opportunities typically $1M and less.

You will deliver superior client service, cross-sell bank products, and maintain a healthy loan and deposit book with guidance from regional leadership. A bachelor’s in Business, Finance, or Accounting and at least two years in commercial banking are required; travel includes overnight stays as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
• Two years of experience in small business and commercial banking.
• Understanding of loan origination, underwriting, and Treasury Services.
• Understanding of relationship management.
• Be a self-starter with minimal management oversight.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed, including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Manage and solicit credit opportunities and relationships typically $1M and less.
• Achieve production goals in new commercial loans.
• Achieve non-interest income goals by referrals to Mortgage, Wealth, Treasury Services, and Merchant Services.
• Maintain relationship and portfolio return on equity as determined by leadership.
• Execute a call program to acquire, retain, and expand customer relationships.
• Maintain pipeline of existing relationships and new prospects.
• Structure new loan requests per policy to meet customer needs.
• Collaborate with credit staff on pricing and origination discipline.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and participate in joint calls with business partners.
• Represent the Company in the community through professional and civic involvement.
• Complete training within expected timeframes.
• Support mission, vision, and values with Conduct Standards.
