Job summary

Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust is seeking a Commercial Banking Executive in a fast-paced banking environment. You will work with loan committees, the board, and multiple bank teams to evaluate and structure commercial loans and related services.

The role requires strong credit judgment, communication, and relationship-building skills, with a focus on market presence and adherence to bank policies. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Eight years' experience in a financial institution or loan department preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial real estate and commercial lending policies preferred.
• Knowledge of lending services and cash management services preferred.
• Good managerial, collaboration, communication, organization, and sales skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops new customer prospects and business for the financial institution.
• Actively participate in market events for brand awareness.
• Analyzes the credit history of applicants and determines loan repayment capabilities.
• Negotiates credit terms, such as costs, loan repayment methods, and collateral specifications.
• Develops and maintains interest rate structure, with assistance of management or Loan Committee, to be consistent with Bank policies and competitive with market rate.
• Evaluates potential customer loan requests and makes loan recommendations to Credit Department & Loan Committee.
• Reviews new laws and regulations that influence business lending and makes recommendations to management.
• Participates in training when required for the position.
• Other duties as assigned.
