Job summary

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Collections Analyst. This role can be based in any of our US office locations and requires a strong background in accounts receivable, collections, and collaboration with attorneys and clients.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate five+ years of collection experience, excellent communication, and proficient use of Excel and AR systems. A professional services background is preferred, with a focus on accuracy and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Knowledge of accounting principles.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• Five+ years of related collection experience required.
• Strong analytical skills required.
• Proficiency with Excel/MS Word and Windows environment.
• Ability to operate within billing and accounts receivable systems.
• Initiative and service-oriented approach to clients and attorneys required.
• Excellent time management, project management, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Previous experience in a professional services firm preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze target accounts receivable items for follow-up with attorneys and clients.
• Develop trusting and collaborative relationships regarding billing and collections with attorneys and staff.
• Proactively communicate and update attorneys, clients and management on AR status and advise on actions.
• Facilitate payment of delinquent accounts by maintaining relationships with client personnel.
• Establish alternative payment plans when needed and follow up to ensure payments.
• Coordinate with billing to ensure conformity with client billing protocols and relay concerns to attorneys.
• Provide backup support and assist with reconciling client accounts.
• Update and maintain AR files in Expert Collections.
• Master Expert Collections and train billing/collections teams.
• Monitor daily cash receipts for regular/negotiated/unapplied payments.
• Handle special projects and other duties as requested.
