Job summary

National Beef in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a qualified Claims and Litigation Manager to lead employment and liability claims and workers' compensation matters. This on-site role requires coordinating with inside and outside counsel to resolve complex cases efficiently while controlling costs and reducing risk.

Qualifications

• Strong legal knowledge in civil litigation and insurance principles.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Juris-Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree is preferred but not required.
• At least five (5) years of experience in workers' compensation litigation, employment litigation, liability claims or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Case Management: Manage the lifecycle of litigated claims, including complex, high-exposure, or serious injury cases.
• Strategy & Oversight: Develop and implement litigation strategies, manage budgets, and hold law firms accountable.
• Liaison & Communication: Act as a key contact for employees while working with claim team, attorneys, management and vendors, ensuring clear communication on case status and developments.
• Staff & Vendor Management: Provide oversight and manage expectations for the claims adjusters, provide training, and manage relationships with outside law firms.
• Investigation & Evaluation: Investigate claims, evaluate damages, determine liability, and evaluate accuracy of reserves.
• Negotiation & Settlement: Develop negotiation and settlement discussions, representing the company at mediations and trials.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve claims handling processes and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
