Job summary

City of Charles Town is seeking a Long Range Planner to manage long-range planning, comprehensive plan updates, and development trend analysis in Charles Town, West Virginia. The role collaborates with the Community Development team and coordinates with the GIS staff and Zoning Administrator to support policy and planning efforts.

The position is exempt, non-supervisory, and reports to the Community Development Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, urban planning, environmental studies, landscape architecture, or closely related field.
• Master’s Degree desirable; AICP may substitute for a Master’s.
• Four (4) years of planning or related experience in Community Development or related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares annual updates to the Comprehensive Plan and analyzes Planning Commission actions.
• Defines and explores SALDO use policy and processes various applications.
• Reviews zoning, annexations, and development proposals; provides recommendations.
