Job summary

Georgia Department of Transportation seeks a Chief Information Officer to lead IT strategy, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and enterprise data management. The role directs IT governance, enterprise applications, and technology operations to support GDOT’s goals and customer service.

The CIO will shape technology investments, oversee budgets, and partner with executives to advance innovation while ensuring security and compliance across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or related field.
• Twelve (12) years of progressively responsible information technology experience.
• Seven (7) years of executive or senior management experience leading enterprise technology organizations.
• Experience leading large-scale technology transformation initiatives.
• Experience managing enterprise budgets and technology portfolios.
• Experience overseeing cybersecurity, cloud technologies, enterprise systems, and infrastructure.
• Public sector or transportation industry experience preferred.
• Physical requirements include hybrid office environment with occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the organization's enterprise technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology opportunities, risks, and investments.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness and customer experience.
• Establish IT governance, policies, standards, and strategic roadmaps.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
• Direct planning, implementation, operation, and maintenance of enterprise technology systems.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of technology infrastructure.
• Oversee enterprise applications, cloud services, networks, data centers, and disaster recovery.
• Develop cybersecurity program and ensure compliance with standards; lead incident response planning.
• Oversee ERP, HRIS, financial and procurement systems; promote architecture standards.
• Develop IT operating and capital budgets; manage technology vendor contracts.
• Lead IT leadership development and foster customer-focused service delivery.
• Collaborate with business leaders to understand technology needs and improve customer experience.
