Michigan Technological University seeks a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to partner with university leadership and align HR practices with strategic objectives in talent management, culture, performance, and compensation. Reporting to CFO/VPA, the CHRO will oversee employee programs, benefits, payroll, policy implementation, HRIS, and compliance while guiding budgets and staff performance.

Qualifications

  • Seven years of human resources experience with emphasis in recruitment, classification, compensation, training, organizational development and employee relations, and benefits administration.
  • Five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct work of the HR department with transformational leadership.
  • Direct HR programs: recruiting, orientation, compensation, payroll, employee relations, training, and org development.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures, ensure confidentiality, promote internal and external relationships.
  • Supervise HR staff and serve as strategic business partner to support university goals.
  • Oversee annual salary surveys and reporting to external entities.
