Job summary

Gurr Brothers Construction of Texas LLC seeks a Chief Legal Officer to lead the legal function across multiple states. The CLO will advise the executive team, shape enterprise strategy, manage corporate governance, contracts, and risk.

This role requires a JD, active bar in at least one US jurisdiction, and 10–15+ years in senior legal roles, including in-house experience. The CLO will oversee litigation, regulatory matters, and significant strategic transactions to support growth.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 10–15+ years of progressively responsible legal experience.
• Significant corporate/in-house or comparable business-focused legal experience.
• Experience advising executive leadership.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and executive communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior legal leadership and strategic guidance to executive leadership.
• Oversee enterprise legal strategy, governance, contracts, litigation, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
• Lead or oversee major transactions, mergers, and acquisitions and provide scalable legal infrastructure.
• Manage outside counsel and oversee significant litigation, disputes, and settlement strategies.
• Advise on contractor licensing, construction regulatory requirements, and industry-specific compliance.
• Develop enterprise contracting standards, templates, and review processes across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and governance obligations.
