Job summary

Cain Watters & Associates seeks a Chief Legal Officer to lead strategic legal counsel, oversee enterprise contract management, and guide governance and regulatory compliance. This executive role reports to the Executive Committee and partners with the Chief Compliance Officer on enterprise risk initiatives.

The CLO will drive growth-focused initiatives, align legal and operational strategies, and oversee legal operations, vendor and employment agreements, and regulatory interactions.

Qualifications

• J.D. required from an accredited law school.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum 12–15 years of legal experience, with in-house or senior-level roles.
• Proven track record in complex contract negotiations and enterprise contract programs.
• Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives and projects.
• Strong governance, compliance, risk, employment law, and business transactions knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the firm’s legal strategy in alignment with goals.
• Oversee contract management, review, negotiation, and risk assessment.
• Set policies and controls for contract governance and legal operations.
• Advise executives on legal obligations, business initiatives, and risk.
• Establish KPIs for legal operations, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
• Provide oversight of the Chief Compliance Officer and compliance priorities.
