Job summary

American Express is seeking a Manager, Change Risk Assessment within GMNS to lead risk identification, governance, and reporting for new products and material business changes. You will partner across Product, Technology, Digital, and Operations to ensure controls, policies, and standards are applied throughout the change lifecycle.

The role emphasizes independent risk assessment, governance, and transparent reporting to senior leadership, with focus on strategic, operational, and compliance

Qualifications

• 3+ Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities
• Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards
• Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively

Responsibilities

• Identify new product or service changes and material business changes that should be governed by policies and standards
• Develop and execute a GMNS change risk assessment framework with proper categorization and risk assessment
• Implement risk assessment approaches considering Strategic, Operational, and Compliance risks for changes and emerging risks
• Enhance risk assessment methodologies, governance standards, and risk taxonomy
• Partner with Product, Technology, Digital, Operations, and other BUs to identify and mitigate risks early in the change lifecycle
• Prepare risk summaries and executive materials for governance forums and leadership
• Monitor mitigation actions and report portfolio health and key risks to senior leadership
• Identify cross-program risks and systemic issues across concurrent transformations
• Develop risk profile reporting and communicate OR trends to senior management
