Job summary

Great Hearts Texas is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance function across its San Antonio and Dallas regional schools. The CFO will partner with the Superintendent and Board on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic resource allocation while ensuring strong internal controls and audit readiness.

The role requires building a high-performing finance team, modernizing systems, and providing clear financial guidance to support educational goals and long-term sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• Progressively responsible finance leadership experience with rebuilding or strengthening teams and delivering dependable operations.
• Experience overseeing accounting, audit readiness, and compliance with strong leadership.
• Texas charter or school-finance experience preferred; transferable leadership skills acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the finance organization, recruiting and developing talent with clear roles and goals.
• Oversee accounting, monthly close, financial reporting, payroll, payments, and receivables.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and long-term financial planning.
• Guide treasury activities, debt, and financing arrangements with adherence to controls.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory reporting; manage audits and external relationships.
• Partner with school leadership and the Board on resource allocation and sustainability.
