Job summary

Pacific Seafood is seeking a Category Manager I for Sushi and Specialty Seafood in Clackamas. This role supports the procurement strategy with analytics, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration to grow our category.

The candidate will lead sales and marketing strategy, manage supplier relations, and forecast market dynamics while ensuring compliance. A BA/BS in a related field with at least five years in category management is required, and travel up to 50% may be necessary.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive category management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated expert-level knowledge of category management and a proven track record of building successful, sustainable categories.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time or more, as required

Responsibilities

• Sales and Marketing Strategy Management: Budget and devise plans for the category, covering periodical, product form, customer, branch, price, and cost considerations; drive category placements and optimize profitability; develop marketing campaigns to support market penetration and product positioning.
• Supply Chain and Vendor Relations: Maintain category supply, source from external vendors, develop strategic sourcing and procurement processes; manage supplier service levels, quotations, fill rates, and quality control; negotiate with vendors to optimize costs and quality.
• Market Analysis and Forecasting: Monitor market dynamics, communicate changes, develop price forecasts; provide updates to the sales team; analyze sales performance to ensure margin accuracy and identify improvements.
• Training, Relationship Building, and Compliance: Train sales representatives on product features and positioning; cultivate relationships with sales management for inventory and profitability analyses; visit facilities to support category growth; ensure compliance with import requirements and regulations.
