Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Category Manager to lead local CAPEX Construction and Facility Management category strategies, coordinating with technical teams to understand scopes and risks.

The role requires 5+ years in large-scale CAPEX projects and strategic sourcing, strong negotiation, and proficiency with SAP Ariba, MS Project, and MS Excel. Travel 10–20% and EST time zone preferred.

Qualifications

• BA / BS in Supply Chain/Business Administration/Real Estate/Finance or related discipline.
• +5 years of experience in large scale CAPEX Construction projects and Strategic Sourcing.
• Knowledge of building services, process equipment, construction and contractors.
• Ownership mindset with ability to see projects through to completion.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple moving parts in a matrix organization.
• Project management and execution skills.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office tools including MS Project, MS Excel, SAP Ariba.
• Fluent English.
• 10–20% travel required.
• Location preference EST time zone.

Responsibilities

• Lead local category strategies for CAPEX Construction and Facility Management.
• Manage end-to-end strategic sourcing processes: RFP, technical and commercial evaluation, negotiation and contracting.
• Dialogue with technical teams to understand scopes, specifications and risks.
• Negotiate with specialized suppliers (contractors, technical services, FM).
• Manage contracts, terms and conditions, SLAs and KPIs.
• Adapt corporate contractual framework to the local business needs.
• Evaluate and mitigate technical, contractual, financial and HSE risks.
