Job summary

The City of Miami Beach is seeking a highly responsible professional to manage all phases of capital improvement projects, from planning through design and construction, within established timelines and budgets.

The role involves directing design and construction with architects, engineers and contractors, administering contracts, reviewing payments and change orders, and coordinating funding, bidding, permits and stakeholder communications to deliver major projects successfully.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or closely related field.
• Three (3) years of project management experience in professional architecture, engineering, or construction work.
• Experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Manage design and construction projects through architects, engineers and contractors.
• Provide construction contract administration, on-site support and inspection.
• Review payments, change orders, schedules and compliance with plans and specs.
• Assist in selection of consulting firms and review proposals for compliance and funding.
• Direct and assist in project design, prepare plans, specifications and contracts.
• Support public bidding, conduct pre-bid meetings and coordinate with bidders.
• Arrange funding by preparing grant applications and track allocations.
• Prepare memorandums, resolutions and ordinances; maintain project schedules.
• Obtain construction permits; prepare project budgets and track expenditures.
• Interact with residents, businesses and stakeholders to address issues.
