Job summary

Tabor Academy, based in Marion, MA, seeks an experienced Director of Facilities to lead campus operations, maintenance, and capital projects. The role oversees buildings, grounds, energy, safety systems, and regulatory compliance, coordinating with the CFO/COO on budgets and procurement.

The position requires strategic planning, strong leadership, and hands-on management to support students, staff, and visitors, with a focus on Phase 1 campus design and implementation. Housing is not included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• 10+ years in facilities/engineering with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience managing operating and capital budgets and complex projects.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety standards and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and provide on-call support.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee preventive maintenance and upkeep of campus buildings/grounds.
• Oversee work-order/asset-management system and ensure timely requests.
• Manage facilities budgets and capital projects from planning to completion.
• Lead and develop facilities staff and supervise contractors.
• Coordinate procurement, vendor management, and contract oversight.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance across facilities operations.
• Collaborate with IT and Security on access systems and infrastructure.
• Provide campus leadership input on facilities strategy and emergency response.
