Job summary

Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH seeks a Director of Capital Projects to lead planning, design, and execution of its capital program across facilities, research, and academic spaces. The role provides strategic, operational, and technical leadership from feasibility through turnover.

You will oversee budgets, schedules, permitting, and reporting; collaborate with Campus Services leadership, faculty, external consultants, and regulators; and guide direct reports to deliver high‑quality projects

Qualifications

• At least ten years of direct experience in planning, design, and management major capital construction projects.
• Experience building effective capital programs of varying scales.
• Documented success in meeting budget and schedule targets.
• Bachelor’s degree in technical field (engineering or architecture) or related to construction or project management or the equivalent.
• Experience managing teams including staff resource allocation and deployment, training/skill development, and regular evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, design, and execution of Dartmouth’s capital program.
• Lead cost control, budgeting, and scheduling across projects.
• Coordinate with Campus Services, faculty, administration, external consultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure assigned projects follow Dartmouth’s signing authority policy.
• Develop and maintain project delivery methods and the 5-year capital plan.
