Job summary

High Steel Service Center is seeking a Buyer/Planner to ensure material availability and support the internal production schedule. You will collaborate with vendors and internal teams to meet service objectives and optimize working capital.

The role emphasizes PO management, KPI analysis, and planning for multiple months ahead, with a focus on accurate forecasting and supplier performance. This is a 1st shift in-office position at our Lancaster, PA facility.

Qualifications

• Supply chain background with procurement, forecasting and inventory management.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities to coordinate with internal and external partners.
• Knowledge of purchasing process from inputs to PO placement and tracking.
• Detail oriented with high accuracy in work.
• Experience using ERP systems (SAP, JDE, Oracle) required.
• Extensive spreadsheet analysis and strong mathematical abilities.
• Experience with DRP/MRP functionality required.
• Five+ years related experience.
• Four-year college degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field required.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage purchase orders from requisition to receipt of material from vendor.
• Monitor status of open POs to ensure on-time delivery and resolve PO issues.
• Analyze and report KPIs: inventory value, PPV, surpluses, shortages, supplier performance.
• Plan monthly purchasing strategy using sales volume, vendor terms, market conditions and pricing.
• Track daily/weekly trading prices affecting raw material costs.
• Coordinate product management through MRP input changes, obsolescence, and new supplier introductions.
• Gather time commitments from sales and ensure adherence to timelines.
• Assist in forecast process for ~1,200 SKUs and ~400 customer forecasts monthly.
• Lead yearly supply plan reviews with cross-functional teams.
