Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is seeking a detail-oriented procurement professional to manage PO activity, forecast demand, and optimize inventory levels in a manufacturing setting.

You’ll collaborate with Support Team and Operations to meet customer requirements, monitor lead-times, and drive improvements in yield and cost. A two-year experience in purchasing or customer service within manufacturing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in a related field with at least two years of sales, purchasing, or customer service in manufacturing.
• Experience coordinating with Support Team and Operations to align demand with supply.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements, forecast, and lead-times to align buy with demand.
• Review slow-moving inventory and collaborate with Support Team to resolve issues.
• Develop strategies to meet customer requirements and maintain inventory targets.
• Lead IMR/MRP reviews for all accounts to ensure effective supply chain management.
• Place or modify purchase orders and set up new base items/purchase specs.
• Evaluate margins and compare pricing to maximize return.
• Collaborate with Operations to optimize yields and minimize scrap.
• Monitor PO status, finished goods, and provide buy decisions to meet needs.
• Communicate lead-times and delays; provide coverage options for customer requirements.
• Expedite orders as needed and develop coverage plans if primary vendor fails.
• Coordinate with Tech Services on new items or grade requirements; ensure material meets specs.
• Serve as a back-up for other Buyers, Inside Sales, and Account Manager.
• Engage with team face-to-face to promote learning and productivity.
