Job summary

High Steel Service Center in Lancaster, PA is seeking a Buyer/Planner to ensure material availability for customer orders and production scheduling. You will manage procurement, forecast accuracy, and inventory control to support sales and service goals, collaborating with vendors and internal teams.

This 1st shift, in-office role involves POs, supplier performance tracking, and cross-functional coordination with sales and operations. APICS certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience with procurement, forecasting and inventory management.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of purchasing processes from inputs to PO placement and tracking.
• Detail oriented with high accuracy.
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, JDE, or Oracle.
• Experience with DRP/MRP functionality.
• Five or more years of related experience.
• Four-year college degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage purchase orders from requisition to receipt.
• Monitor open POs for on-time delivery and resolve issues.
• Analyze KPIs like inventory value, PPV, surpluses, shortages, supplier performance.
• Plan monthly purchasing strategy based on sales forecasts and market conditions.
• Track daily/weekly commodity prices affecting raw materials.
• Coordinate product management through MRP input changes and new suppliers.
