Job summary

Rochester Precision Optics in West Henrietta, NY is seeking a Buyer to source materials and services, negotiate terms, and ensure reliable supplier performance to support production. This role handles day-to-day purchasing, drives cost improvements, and maintains a resilient supplier base for optics components and assemblies.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree in supply chain or related field, 3+ years of buying experience, ERP experience (Epicor preferred), and strong communication

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of direct purchasing experience, preferably in precision manufacturing.
• Experience with commodity purchasing, supplier management, and manufacturing support purchasing.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and payment terms to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
• Drive cost reductions through supplier negotiations and PPV improvements.
• Procure materials and services at best total cost while maintaining supply continuity.
• Independently quote materials, components, and project-based purchases.
• Track and improve supplier on-time delivery and performance.
• Identify and mitigate supply risks, shortages, and capacity constraints.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to resolve supply issues.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to improve cost, quality, or lead time.
• Ensure compliance with ITAR, EAR, and defense-related procurement requirements.
