Job summary

Algas-SDI in Kent, WA is seeking a detail-oriented Buyer to support procurement across product lines, focusing on complex and high-value components. You will collaborate with Planning, Production, Engineering, and suppliers to ensure strategic purchasing, cost control, and on-time production.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of purchasing best practices and supplier management.
• Proficiency with ERP and MRP systems including purchasing, inventory, and production control functions.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to evaluate supplier pricing and terms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across departments and with suppliers.
• Problem-solving and decision-making with the ability to implement practical solutions.
• Strong organizational and planning skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Support sourcing activities and RFQs for projects, new products, and engineering changes.
• Evaluate supplier pricing, capabilities, lead times, and terms to support purchasing decisions.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other supplier agreements as needed.
• Review purchasing requirements and place purchase orders based on system signals and business needs.
• Maintain purchase order data, supplier information, pricing, and delivery visibility in ERP.
• Monitor open purchase orders and supplier commitments to prevent production delays.
• Collaborate with Planners, Production, and Engineering to prioritize purchasing activities and resolve shortages.
• Assist with supplier non-conformances, material discrepancies, invoice issues, and purchasing concerns.
• Maintain records including MTRs and CoCs and other quality/compliance docs.
• Contribute to stocking plans, inventory management, and vendor agreements.
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, supplier performance, and material availability.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships to support quality, cost, delivery, and long-term objectives.
• Support cross-functional projects and product lifecycle activities to address purchasing requirements.
• Apply lean purchasing practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Perform other purchasing and operational duties as assigned.
