Job summary

Algas-SDI in Kent, WA is seeking a detail-oriented Buyer to support procurement across product lines, focusing on complex and high-value components. You will collaborate with Planning, Production, Engineering, and suppliers to ensure strategic purchasing, cost control, and on-time production.

Responsibilities

• Support sourcing activities and RFQs for projects, new products, and engineering changes.
• Evaluate supplier pricing, capabilities, lead times, and terms to support purchasing decisions.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other supplier agreements as needed.
• Review purchasing requirements and place purchase orders based on system signals and business needs.
• Maintain purchase order data, supplier information, pricing, and delivery visibility in ERP.
• Monitor open purchase orders and supplier commitments to prevent production delays.
• Collaborate with Planners, Production, and Engineering to prioritize purchasing activities and resolve shortages.
• Assist with supplier non-conformances, material discrepancies, invoice issues, and purchasing concerns.
• Maintain records including MTRs and CoCs and other quality/compliance docs.
• Contribute to stocking plans, inventory management, and vendor agreements.
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, supplier performance, and material availability.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships to support quality, cost, delivery, and long-term objectives.
• Support cross-functional projects and product lifecycle activities to address purchasing requirements.
• Apply lean purchasing practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Perform other purchasing and operational duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Support sourcing activities and Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for projects, new products, and engineering changes.
• Evaluate supplier pricing, capabilities, lead times, and terms to support purchasing decisions.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other supplier agreements as needed.
• Review purchasing requirements and place purchase orders based on system-generated buy signals and business needs.
• Maintain accurate purchase order data, supplier information, pricing, and delivery visibility within ERP systems.
• Monitor open purchase orders and supplier commitments to support material availability and prevent production delays.
• Collaborate with Planners, Production, and Engineering to prioritize purchasing activities and resolve material shortages or supply chain constraints.
• Assist with supplier non-conformances, material discrepancies, invoice issues, and purchasing-related concerns.
• Maintain purchasing records and component documentation, including Material Test Reports (MTRs), Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), and other applicable quality or compliance records.
• Contribute to strategic stocking plans, inventory management initiatives, and vendor agreements.
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, supplier performance, cost management, and material availability.
• Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to support quality, cost, delivery, and long-term supply chain objectives.
• Support cross-functional projects and product lifecycle activities to ensure purchasing requirements are addressed.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles and purchasing best practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Perform other purchasing and operational duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience with supplier performance improvement, strategic sourcing, vendor agreements, or inventory optimization.
• Familiarity with manufacturing documentation and quality requirements, including MTRs and CoCs.
