Job summary

Jewish Federations of North America seeks an Assistant Director, Budgets and Grants in the Center on Aging, Trauma, and Holocaust Survivor Care to provide budget management and grant administration support across the U.S.

This role collaborates with subgrantees and internal teams, drafting budgets and narratives for federal and non-federal proposals, delivering financial analysis, and supporting capacity-building and reporting on program grants.

Qualifications

  • Five years of progressive experience in creating, managing, and/or evaluating program budgets in a nonprofit, grantmaking organization, or government agency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance on financial processes, procedures, and policies related to the Center’s internal operations and subgrantee oversight.
  • Review, monitor, modify, and approve annual budgets and quarterly financial reports of JFNA grant-funded projects.
  • Deliver financial technical assistance to subgrantees by identifying challenges with project implementation and budgets and developing and executing comprehensive solutions.
  • Draft budgets and budget narratives for federal and non-federal grant proposals; financial spreadsheets, reports, and narratives for grant reporting; standard operating procedures; audit confirmation letters for subgrantees; financial instructions and templates for the Center’s RFPs; financial resources; invoices; and other written materials as needed.
  • Create and update reporting procedures to enhance efficiency and streamline operations for the Center and its subgrantees.
  • Track, analyze, and report trends on subgrantee spending and matching contributions, and provide financial analysis and data for site visits, and/or other Center initiatives.
  • Research and advise on grant, compliance, and financial issues.
  • Create, review, and revise cooperative agreements, MOUs, and vendor contracts.
  • Collaborate with JFNA’s Finance Department and external stakeholders, including subgrantees, vendors, and funders, on invoices, budgets, reporting, and other related issues.
  • Participate in remote and in-person site visits, staff meetings, and conferences.
  • Manage and support other projects as requested.
