Job summary

Montgomery County seeks a Budget and Policy Manager (Manager II) to lead enterprise-wide initiatives within the Council's Central Staff. This executive role ensures effective management and oversight of major budgets and legislative priorities, reporting to the Deputy Director for Budget and Policy.

The ideal candidate will have seven years in budget or fiscal management, three in a supervisory role, and a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in budget or fiscal management.
• Three (3) years of supervisory or executive capacity.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Council's Capital Budget processes (>$6B).
• Oversee base budget reviews for Operating Budget (~$8B).
• Supervise and coordinate workplans for Council committees.
• Manage policies and compensation for County-funded agencies.
• Lead diverse staff teams for multiple initiatives and programs.
• Monitor and improve internal and external Council processes.
