Job summary

VIA Metro Transit seeks a Senior Budget and Management Analyst in San Antonio to coordinate VIA’s annual budgets and perform complex financial analysis. This role supports budgeting, forecasting, and performance evaluation across departments with rigorous financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in budgeting, accounting, and data analysis, plus expertise with SQL/VBA and MS Access to deliver accurate, timely insights for leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in governmental accounting, budgeting procedures, financial analysis, or equivalent.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing; able to create charts and reports.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare the annual budget; compile sections of the Budget Book and supporting documents.
• Prepare annual revenue and expenditure budgets and the five-year forecast for departments.
• Analyze past and current financial operations to estimate future revenues and expenditures.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports; explain variances between budgeted and actual results.
• Develop and deliver ad-hoc reports and data for management and external reporting.
