Job summary

City of San Diego seeks a Finance Analyst II to perform challenging accounting, budgeting and financial reporting tasks under the Director of the Department of Finance.

Responsibilities include preparing citywide budgets, maintaining complex financial records, handling accounts payable and payroll, and implementing improvements in financial systems and forecasts with a focus on internal controls.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time professional-level experience in accounting, auditing and/or internal controls, and/or developing, administering and analyzing budgets.
• Master's Degree in Accounting, MBA, Economics, Finance, Management, Public Administration or a related field may substitute for up to one year of required experience.
• CPA License or completion of CPA exam parts may substitute for up to one year of required experience.
• OCA experience documentation may be required for City of San Diego employees.

Responsibilities

• Review, develop and prepare the Citywide budget and monitoring reports.
• Maintain and review various sets of complex financial records and statements.
• Process accounts payable and payroll; plan and analyze and install modications in financial systems and forecasts.
• Monitor and recommend internal controls related to financial reporting.
