Job summary

Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC is seeking a Budget Analyst to report to the Budget Manager. You will manage position budgeting, enter operating budgets, and collaborate with HR and Payroll to resolve issues.

Required: a bachelor’s in accounting or related field with at least 15 accounting hours and at least two years of relevant experience; intermediate Excel skills. Preferred: higher education accounting experience and Banner Finance familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar with at least 15 semester hours in accounting-related courses and at least two years of relevant institution-level business, finance, payroll and/or budget experience.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Reviews hiring proposals and salary actions and verifies funding in Banner Finance.
• Works closely with Human Resources and the Payroll Office to resolve payroll issues.
• Manages positions for all assignments: ensures labor distribution coding is accurate; identifies and calculates corrections to labor distribution and loads them in Banner; and establishes and funds new positions as needed.
• Maintains personnel roster and vacancy reports.
• Completes budget transfers.
• Calculates and enters course fee, lab fee and carryforward budgets.
• Completes ad hoc budget research.
• Supports the resolution of overspent budgets.
• Performs routine and ad hoc budget analysis.
• Creates and maintains procedural documentation.
• Collaborates with continuous improvement projects.
• Supports employees with budget functions in Banner.
• Sends communication and Daily Digests with budget updates and information.
