Job summary

Winthrop University is seeking a Budget Manager who reports to the Associate Vice President for Finance & Business. The role develops and maintains university budgets, analyzes budget data and trends, and prepares regular and ad hoc reports to support strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate brings a bachelor’s degree in accounting (or equivalent) with 5+ years of relevant experience and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar with at least 15 semester hours in accounting-related courses.
• At least five years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Leads budget development, coordination, and execution; analyzes budgets for reasonableness; reconciles to board budget.
• Maintains reports including scenario modeling, benchmarking, and fringe benefits; communicates trends.
• Files annual state reports and prepares cabinet/board-level reports; creates procedural documentation.
