Job summary

Rudolph & Sletten, a Tutor Perini Company, seeks a Business Unit Controller for our Menlo Park, CA office. This dynamic role leads all accounting and controls for a growing business with over $1 billion in annual revenue, directing a team of 10–15 staff including 3 direct reports.

Responsibilities include monthly closes under GAAP, revenue recognition, internal controls, and collaboration with outside auditors, with a focus on productivity and automation across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive management experience in accounting and finance in construction.
• Thorough understanding of revenue recognition, WIP reporting and percentage of completion.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across the business unit for all accounting and controlling operations.
• Manage the monthly close process to ensure timely, GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
• Produce discussion and analysis of changes in numbers and financial position.
• Oversee reporting of financial information to the parent entity during close cycles.
• Oversee cash and banking activities, including forecasting and disbursements.
• Review revenue recognition through work-in-place and validate with profit forecasts.
• Manage internal controls and SOX compliance.
• Coordinate with outside auditors on annual and quarterly audits.
• Drive productivity and automate accounting activities across the finance function.
• Provide actionable financial information to executive management.
