Job summary

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is seeking a seasoned Business Development Manager in Washington, DC, with hybrid work capabilities. You will support the Lobbying & Public Policy practice, coordinating plans, events, and client development activities while leading a team to deliver high-value initiatives.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of relevant experience, including 3 years in people or project management, plus strong communication and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in people or project management and at least two years in business development or marketing.
• Experience in law or lobbying firms preferred; Congress or public policy background is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong editing abilities.
• Ability to lead, manage workload, and collaborate with internal/external partners.

Responsibilities

• Assist implementation of practice group business plans and track deadlines.
• Identify conferences, seminars, sponsorships and speaking opportunities aligned with goals.
• Develop and distribute brochures, newsletters and client mailings with the marketing team.
• Coordinate internal/external practice events and manage client development expenses.
• Prepare business development proposals, RFPs and maintain collateral libraries.
• Manage client development pitches, presentations and related opportunities.
• Maintain client databases and support cross-selling initiatives with practice groups.
