Job summary

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington, DC is seeking a Business Development Manager in the Marketing department to support the Lobbying & Public Policy practice. The role reports to the Director of Business Development and will reside in the DC office with hybrid work capabilities.

The position requires coordinating and implementing marketing initiatives, conferences, sponsorships, and client communications, with responsibility for proposals, collateral, events, and cross-practice

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in people or project management and at least two years in business development or marketing, preferably in a law or lobbying firm.
• Experience on Capitol Hill, the executive branch or lobbying role is preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including editing.
• Ability to manage workload, work independently and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; InterAction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing practice group business and action plans by coordinating and tracking efforts.
• Monitor plan implementation to meet deadlines and commitments.
• Identify and coordinate conferences, seminars, forums, sponsorships, speaking and writing opportunities.
• Prepare and distribute brochures, newsletters, and client mailings; promote exposure of the practice and attorneys.
• Coordinate internal and external practice events with the marketing team.
• Manage client development expenses by practice group.
• Assist with proposals, RFPs, and marketing collateral; maintain collateral library.
• Develop and update marketing materials to reflect current practice focus areas.
• Lead client development pitches and presentations; participate in presentations.
