Job summary

The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in Edmond, OK is seeking a Benefits Specialist to administer employee benefits and coordinate HRIS-based processes on campus.

The role emphasizes outstanding service, benefits program administration, and collaboration with the HR team to support employees and retirees. In-person campus presence is required to interact with students, faculty and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, or related field plus 3 years HR/Benefits experience.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Experience with HRIS and benefits administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee leave programs including FMLA, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
• Administer retirement processes in coordination with Oklahoma Teachers' Retirement System (OTRS).
• Coordinate new hire benefit enrollment, deliver New Employee Orientation, and facilitate other trainings as needed.
• Process and manage Qualified Life Events (QLEs) and payroll deductions.
• Administer COBRA processes, ensuring timely notifications.
• Maintain HRIS data, benefit enrollment, changes, and reporting.
• Respond to day-to-day employee benefit inquiries with professional service.
• Assist with open enrollment and development of new benefit programs.
• Provide coverage for HR front office and campus tours as needed.
• Perform other duties and coordinate departmental projects.
