Job summary

University of Central Oklahoma is seeking a dedicated Benefits Specialist to join the HR team. You will administer employee benefit programs, provide expert guidance, and ensure accurate, customer-focused service across benefit processes.

The role collaborates with campus partners, maintains compliant records in the HRIS, and supports open enrollment, retiree transitions, and benefit communications to students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; three years of HR/Benefits experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Experience with benefits administration and customer service within a complex HR environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee leave programs, including ownership of FMLA processes, ensuring legal compliance.
• Administer retirement processes in coordination with state retirement system processes and retiree transitions.
• Coordinate new hire benefit enrollment and deliver New Employee Orientation.
• Process Qualified Life Events (QLEs) and ensure correct payroll deductions.
• Administer COBRA notifications and compliance activities.
• Maintain accurate HRIS data for benefits enrollment and changes.
• Respond to day-to-day benefit inquiries with professional service.
• Support open enrollment for active employees and retirees and assist with new programs.
