Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Senior Director of Benefits to lead a team of 15 and shape the benefits strategy across medical, retirement, and leave programs.

The role partners with Finance, HR, Legal, Workday, and external vendors to ensure compliant, cost-effective programs and strategic governance. The position blends strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, driving performance, transparency, and employee-focused delivery in a complex healthcare and higher education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 10 years of experience with at least 5 in a leadership capacity leading the development of a complex, integrated and strategic benefits program in healthcare, higher education, or corporate environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and evolution of benefits strategy, governance, and cost management.
• Advise executive leadership on market trends and best practices in benefits.
• Design and oversee medical, dental, vision, retirement, leave, and other benefit programs.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs to provide actionable insights for leaders.
• Mentor a team of 15 benefits professionals and ensure high-quality service.
