Job summary

Covington & Burling LLP in New York is seeking a strategic, results-oriented Business Development Manager to drive BD strategy for Corporate, Tax and Financial Services groups and to collaborate with the global Marketing & Business Development team.

You will partner with practice leaders to develop plans, prepare client pitches, monitor budgets, coordinate marketing initiatives, and leverage market research to identify growth opportunities and strengthen client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field; MBA or JD a plus.
• Minimum of three years in professional services marketing and business development; law firm experience is highly desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Leadership, proactivity, and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate strategic BD plans for assigned groups; manage implementation and measure outcomes.
• Develop and monitor BD budgets for assigned practice groups.
• Prepare client pitches, responses to RFPs, and conduct sessions with attorneys prior to meetings; track win/loss records.
• Leverage Market Research to analyze opportunities and prepare for client meetings.
• Coordinate with Practice groups and BD team for cross-practice initiatives and relationship management.
• Counsel attorneys on BD goals and support plan implementation.
• Work with Public Relations to identify media opportunities.
