Job summary

Amerisure seeks an AVP, Information Security in Farmington Hills, MI. The role leads cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and incident response to protect information assets, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with business objectives.

The position oversees policy development, risk assessments, and vendor management, with a focus on building a resilient security program and staff development in a hybrid 3-day onsite model.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, MBA, or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum 10 years IT experience with at least 5 years in management (budgeting/forecasting).
• Minimum 8 years in Information Security with design/integration expertise across apps/systems/networks.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CCISO, CISM, CRISC, GSEC, CEH, CompTIA Security+ or SSCP are desirable.
• Insurance/financial services sector experience and regulatory awareness are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead security staff with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning.
• Advise CIO and executive leadership on cybersecurity risks and posture.
• Provide regular security program reporting to senior leaders and regulators.
• Oversee enterprise security policy, standards, and procedures aligned with frameworks (NIST, NAIC, NYDFS, MI DIFS).
• Identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks including third-party risk.
• Govern security program and report risk metrics to committees.
• Conduct enterprise risk assessments and track findings to resolution.
• Develop training programs on security policies and practices for all staff.
• Collaborate with IT leadership to evolve security controls and mentor staff.
• Coordinate with ERM and Business Continuity to integrate cybersecurity measures.
• Manage SOC operations including threat detection, hunting, and incident response.
• Maintain relationships with law enforcement and government agencies.
• Lead cyber incident response exercises and engage external auditors.
• Promote adoption of cutting-edge security technologies.
