Job summary

The University of Tampa seeks an Assistant Vice President, Information Security to lead the university's information security strategy and multi-year roadmap, aligning security with institutional goals.

You will oversee the ISMS, risk management, and executive communications while partnering with AI governance, IT operations, and university leadership to enable secure innovation and protect campus data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, cybersecurity, or related field.
• 10 years IT experience with 7+ years information security, including leadership.
• CISSP or equivalent certification.
• Experience presenting to executives/board-level audiences.
• Knowledge of AI security implications and controls.
• Familiarity with GLBA, FERPA, HIPAA, PCI DSS compliance.
• Awareness of ISO/IEC standards and Lead Auditor track.
• Strong leadership and staff development abilities.
• Higher education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the university's information security strategy and multi-year roadmap.
• Oversee ISMS ISO 27001 and risk management programs.
• Communicate security posture to executive audiences.
• Partner with AI governance and procurement on secure AI adoption.
• Direct security operations, incident response, and governance activities.
• Drive security awareness and staff development across campus.
