Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking an Associate Director to drive growth for energy providers in the Energy Providers West Market. Lead engagements from problem definition through design and implementation, develop client-ready insights, and mentor junior teams in a hybrid client-facing environment.

The role requires extensive experience in management consulting with a focus on energy/utilities, plus strong skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and data visualization.

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent resident, due to client engagements.
• Bachelor’s degree AND 7+ years of post-graduation work experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a related field, with a focus on the energy or utilities sector (excluding oil & gas).
• Master’s degree AND 5+ years of post-graduation work experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a related field, with a focus on the energy or utilities sector (excluding oil & gas).
• Strong understanding of utility business models, regulatory environments, and transformation drivers.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more: utility data strategy and AI/ML modernization, utility program management/governance, technology product development, utility system planning, electric/gas utilities tech integration, utilities infrastructure resilience, utility customer programs, grid modernization/transformation, or utility corporate strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic consulting engagements for investor-owned utilities and energy providers from problem definition through solution design and implementation.
• Develop client-ready insights through research, analysis, and modeling.
• Drive client impact in areas such as business, technology, and customer transformation, integrated system planning, decarbonization strategy, grid modernization, and AI/data analytics.
• Manage project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables, on-time execution, and strong team collaboration.
• Support business development by contributing to proposals, client pitches, and account growth strategies and developing client relationships.
• Collaborate across Guidehouse practice areas to bring integrated solutions that combine strategy, technology, and operations.
• Mentor junior consultants, fostering a culture of learning, inclusion, and excellence.
