Job summary

Florida State University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. The role oversees academic affairs, student-related processes, and college-wide curriculum and policy implementation.

The successful candidate will lead budgeting, accreditation activities, and data reporting, while coordinating with chairs, faculty, and college offices. Start date is summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Earned doctoral degree in a discipline related to one of the academic units in the College.
• Demonstrated success in research and/or teaching, depending on the type of faculty line.
• Prior experience in academic leadership at the program, center, institute, department, or college level.
• Ability to analyze data and make data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Supervising, assigning areas of responsibility, and evaluating all faculty and staff within the Academic Affairs unit.
• Overseeing the unit’s financial planning and budgeting activities.
• Advising students, faculty, and chairs regarding Grade Appeals and General Grievance processes.
• Advising the College Student Leadership Committee (SLC).
• Serving as the Academic Dean and the College liaison for University-level entities (accreditation, quality assurance, etc.).
• Serving on committees as the College representative for academic affairs.
• Maintaining the College Degree Program Inventory (DPI) and Certificate Program Inventory (CPI).
• Working with chairs, faculty, academic staff, and students on policies and procedures.
• Overseeing the College curriculum committee and curriculum proposals.
• Approving Graduate Faculty Status, Graduate Teaching Status, and Co-Directive applications.
• Coordinating data processes and annual student Program Satisfaction Surveys.
• Assisting with design and maintenance of the College Data SharePoint site.
• Liaising with Florida DOE for educator preparation programs.
• Maintaining curriculum and policies for FLDOE programs.
• Collaborating on student learning outcome assessment systems.
