Job summary

The American Heart Association in Dallas is seeking a Senior Advocacy Communications Lead to shape enterprise-wide public policy messaging and campaigns. You will guide strategic plans, coordinate content across heart.org and digital hubs, and provide counsel to national and regional advocacy teams.

This role supports Health Care by Food and other initiatives, offers remote flexibility, and emphasizes work-life harmony, Heart U development, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, PR, Political Science, Public Policy, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in public relations, corporate communications, or journalism.
• Experience with earned media strategy and reporter outreach on public policy topics.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements strategic communications plans for policy and scientific statements.
• Manages advocacy content across heart.org and designated digital hubs.
• Provides strategic counsel to state- and market-based staff supporting campaigns.
• Leads communication strategies for priority public policy campaigns.
• Creates audience-centered messages, materials, toolkits, and resources for campaigns.
• Represents the team in cross-functional issues-management efforts.
