Job summary

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks an Assistant Director for Advising & Recruitment in the School of Molecular & Cellular Biology. The role leads advising, recruitment efforts, and program development for undergraduate degree pathways.

The position oversees advising staff, coordinates events, and partners with campus units to enhance student success and retention within MCB.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, physiology, neuroscience, or closely related field.
At least 3 years of professional experience in higher education including advising and recruitment.
Demonstrated experience supervising and leading a team.
Experience organizing meetings, conferences, graduations and award ceremonies.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic input and oversight for recruitment and advising activities within the School of MCB, including lead advisor responsibilities.
Develop and evaluate advising programs, student services, study abroad and instructional training programs.
Direct hiring, supervision and evaluation of advising and career counseling personnel.
Coordinate recruitment, graduation and career development events (workshops, conferences, ceremonies, etc.).
Oversee communications, advising records, and degree progress tracking for students.
Recruit, screen and supervise student ambassadors and leaders for advising activities.
